Hello, I'm Zinia Haywood

Data Architect
& Data Analyst
based in CPT,
South Africa.

About Me

I am currently a consultant within the Analytics and Cognitive department at a leading professional services provider in South Africa. I have degrees in Computer Science and Information Systems, am a certified solutions architect on the Google Cloud Platform, and currently studying towards certification on the AWS tech stack as well.

I am a bit of a data nerd, and can confidently say that I've found my happy space within the data analytics realm of IT.

In my personal capacity, I love spending time with my 3 doggos, preferably outdoors, walking/shuffling along the mountain trails in Cape Town. If I'm not hanging out with my dogs, you'd most likely find me at a coffee shop somewhere - trying to convince myself not to have a second slice of cheesecake. This internal debate would often prove futile and a second slice would most likely make its way home with me.

This website is a long overdue personal project of mine which started out as a photo blog many, many years ago. After a few destructive trials with some dodgy Wordpress plug-ins, found itself in parked-domain limbo for longer than intended. I've now opted to use this space to feature, and merge, my personal and professional interests.

I'm keen to see how it will evolve and where it may lead.

Resources

You can find links to some useful Resources over here. I'll extend these along the way. Feel free to check it out in the meantime.

Medium

A central platform featuring articles ranging from tech to business, from crime and conspiracies to crazy cartoons.

I've been using Medium for so many "how to-" articles explaining new programming methods and concepts. I find the articles are really well-written and easy to follow, especially if you just want a quick reference guide when trying out something new. It's also become my go-to source for self-improvement and increasing-productivity guides (which, I find, is becoming a biiig focus in my life as I get older).

I love this image by Alanah Ryding - it was featured on a Medium article I enjoyed. She does quite a bit of data analysis work, specifically with GIS/Spatial data, and uses a range of data transformation tools. Quite a cool urban landscape photographer as well. You can check out her work over here.

Google Arts & Culture

Explore artwork and exhibitions from museums across the world. This is a rabbit hole of visual and cultural amazingness.

Of course, the online experience may not come close to exploring these places and artworks in real life. But since I'm not exactly going to find myself exploring the streets of Manila anytime soon, I may as well enjoy an online exhibition of e.g. the Filipino Street Art Project as featured on Google A&C.
